Under this Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), Karachi Institute of Economics and Technology (KIET) and the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) have agreed to jointly promote faculty development initiatives aimed at strengthening academic capacity and industry relevance. These initiatives include specialized training programs, workshops, seminars, and expert-led sessions focusing on capital market operations, financial analytics, investment strategies, and regulatory frameworks. Through these engagements, faculty members of the College of Management Sciences (CoMS), KIET, will be better positioned to align their teaching and research with contemporary market practices and evolving financial trends.
A major highlight of the agreement is the provision of access to Pakistan Stock Exchange data for academic and research purposes. Availability of PSX data will enable CoMS faculty to undertake rigorous empirical research in areas such as stock market behavior, volatility analysis, asset pricing, corporate finance, and macro-financial linkages. This collaboration is expected to significantly enhance the quality and volume of research output, peer-reviewed publications, and evidence-based insights relevant to Pakistan’s financial markets.
The MoU reflects KIET’s continued commitment to fostering a research-driven academic environment and strengthening industry linkages that add tangible value to faculty capacity building, student learning, and national-level financial research. Karachi, 18 November 2025:
Karachi Institute of Economics and Technology (KIET) and The University of Mirpurkhas (UMPK) have formally entered into a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at strengthening academic collaboration, research cooperation, and joint capacity-building initiatives.
The partnership, initiated and facilitated by the Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) at KIET, emphasizes faculty development, joint research, and deeper academic collaboration between the two institutions. The MoU was signed by Prof. Dr. Tariq Jalees, Acting Registrar KIET, and Dr. Pir Suhail Ahmed Sarhandi, Registrar UMPK, in the presence of senior leadership from KIET.
The collaboration focuses on supporting the UMPK–International Conference scheduled for 10–11 February 2026, where:
 Distinguished scholars from KIET will participate as Conference Chairs.
 KIET will serve as the Publication Partner.
 Participants from Social Sciences, Management Sciences, and Computer Science will receive a 50% discount on conference registration fees.
 Top research papers from the conference will be published in HEC-recognized journals, with KIET offering a fee waiver on publication charges (as per applicable policies).
