Abstract

“Liberalism†and “Neo Liberalism†are used as almost synonymous terms in contemporary political and philosophical discourse. Liberalism is a legacy of Enlightenment in which both individual and collective freedom became the ultimate goal of human endeavor. Enlightenment thinkers such as Rousseau and Voltaire envisaged a world in which rationality will transform Western society into a liberal society.
