Salman A. Khan received BS and MS degrees in Computer Engineering from King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals (KFUPM), Saudi Arabia in 1997 and 1999 respectively, and PhD in Computer Science from the University of Pretoria in 2009. He has held academic and research positions at KFUPM, University of Bahrain, and University of Pretoria. Currently, he is a Professor and Head of Department in the College of Computing & Information Sciences, Karachi Institute of Economics and Technology, Pakistan. He has published over 60 research papers in peer-reviewed indexed journals and reputed conferences worldwide. He has supervised/co-supervised 13 PhD and MSc thesis. He is active reviewer for several leading journals and conferences, and has reviewed over 400 research manuscripts. He is ranked in the top reviewers globally by Publons. In addition, he has completed several funded research projects as a principal researcher/ co-researcher/ consultant at KFUPM, University of Bahrain, University of Liverpool, and Prince Mohammad bin Fahd University. He also served as a member of a task force for the development of the National IT Plan for Saudi Arabia in 2001. His expertise is in Natural Computing, Swarm Intelligence, Evolutionary Computation, Fuzzy Logic, and Optimization. His interest is in the application of the aforementioned areas to problems in several domains such as computer networks, cyber security, wireless networks, cloud computing, renewable energy, and smart cities. He has remained member of several international societies including IEEE, IEEE Computational Intelligence Society, IEEE Systems, Man, and Cybernetics Society, IEEE Computer Society, ACM Special Interest Group on Evolutionary Computation, Saudi Scientific Society for Electrical Engineers (SSSEE), and Dhahran Geosciences Society (Sponsored by Saudi Aramco).
