KIET Hosts Insightful Session on Shari’ah-Compliant Investments in Collaboration with Leading Islamic Finance Institutions
The College of Management Sciences at Karachi Institute of Economics & Technology (KIET) successfully hosted a thought-provoking session titled “Beyond Interest: Shari’ah Compliant Investment – Opportunities for the Next Gen” at its City Campus. This significant event was organized in collaboration with Al-Sadiq Institute of Islamic Banking, Finance & Takaful and Al Meezan Investment Management Limited.

The session focused on the growing relevance and potential of Shari’ah-compliant investment strategies, particularly among the youth seeking ethical and faith-based financial alternatives in today’s dynamic market. Topics explored included the principles of Islamic finance, risk-sharing models, the prohibition of riba (interest), and the integration of Shari’ah-compliant tools in modern investment portfolios.

The distinguished speakers, Mr. Abbas Raza Varyala, CSAA, CAMLP-IFM, MCIBS, JAIBP (Head of Trade Business at a Commercial Bank), and Mr. Talha Anwar (Chief Sales Officer at Al Meezan Investment Management Limited), engaged the audience with their expert analysis and real-world applications of Islamic investment frameworks. The interactive discussion encouraged students to critically evaluate conventional investment practices and consider ethical alternatives grounded in Islamic values.

The event attracted students, faculty members, and finance professionals, creating a vibrant platform for intellectual exchange and professional networking. It reinforced KIET’s commitment to preparing its graduates with the knowledge and values needed to lead responsibly in the financial sector.

This impactful event was made possible through the joint efforts of Dr. Muhammad AsadUllah, Associate Professor and Editor-in-Chief at KIET, and Ms. Maria Shahab from Al-Sadiq Institute of Islamic Banking, Finance & Takaful. Their collaboration ensured the smooth execution and academic richness of the session.

کراچی انسٹیٹیوٹ آف اکنامکس اینڈ ٹیکنالوجی (KIET) کے کالج آف مینجمنٹ سائنسز نے “Beyond Interest: Shari’ah Compliant Investment – Opportunities for the Next Gen” کے عنوان سے ایک بصیرت افروز سیشن کا کامیاب انعقاد کیا۔ یہ اہم سیشن ال-صادق انسٹیٹیوٹ آف اسلامک بینکنگ، فنانس اینڈ تکافل اور ال-میزان انویسٹمنٹ مینجمنٹ لمیٹڈ کے اشتراک سے منعقد کیا گیا۔

اس سیشن کا مقصد نوجوانوں کو موجودہ مالیاتی نظام میں شریعت کے اصولوں پر مبنی سرمایہ کاری کے مواقع سے روشناس کرانا تھا۔ سیشن میں اسلامی مالیات کے بنیادی اصول، ربا (سود) کی ممانعت، رسک شیئرنگ ماڈلز، اور جدید سرمایہ کاری کے شعبے میں شریعت کے مطابق ٹولز کے اطلاق پر تفصیل سے روشنی ڈالی گئی۔

معزز مہمان مقررین جن میں مسٹر عباس رضا ویریالا (CSAA، CAMLP-IFM، MCIBS، JAIBP، ہیڈ آف ٹریڈ بزنس، کمرشل بینک) اور مسٹر طلحہ انور (چیف سیلز آفیسر، ال-میزان انویسٹمنٹ مینجمنٹ لمیٹڈ) شامل تھے، نے اسلامی مالیات پر اپنے تجربات اور مہارت کا تبادلہ کیا۔ سیشن کے دوران سوال و جواب کی نشست نے طلباء کو روایتی سرمایہ کاری کے متبادل اسلامی ماڈلز پر غور کرنے کی ترغیب دی۔

یہ سیشن نہ صرف طلباء بلکہ اساتذہ اور فنانس کے پیشہ ور افراد کے لیے بھی معلوماتی اور فائدہ مند ثابت ہوا، اور KIET کی تعلیم و تحقیق میں صنعت سے جُڑی حکمتِ عملیوں کو فروغ دینے کی کوششوں کا مظہر تھا۔

اس کامیاب ایونٹ کے انعقاد میں ڈاکٹر محمد اسداللہ (ایسوسی ایٹ پروفیسر و ایڈیٹر اِن چیف، KIET) اور محترمہ ماریا شہاب (ال-صادق انسٹیٹیوٹ آف اسلامک بینکنگ، فنانس اینڈ تکافل) کا کلیدی کردار رہا جن کی مشترکہ کوششوں نے اس سیشن کو کامیابی سے ہمکنار کیا۔
