A Brief History of Pakistan Educational Foundation

Pakistan Educational Foundation was registered in 1997 under Societies Act of 1860 as a not for profit organization by a group of concerned and devoted individuals headed by its founder Chairman Late Drlzharul Hasan with the mission to provide quality education at affordable price and to contribute in the social sector of Karachi in particular and Pakistan in general.
The executive committee decided to start its activities by launching a higher education facility by the name of University of Economics and Technology and applied for an NOC to UGC now HEC which after a long legal process was awarded an NOC by the name of Karachi Institute of Economics and Technology. Thereafter a long process of acquiring an independent degree awarding status was taken up and finally in May 2000, a charter was awarded to PEF for Karachi Institute of Economics and Technology (KIET).
While the legal procedure for Charter was underway, through the good offices of Chairman BOG Air Marshal Azim Daudpota PAF was convinced to trust PEF and after due diligence PAF and PEF signed a JV Agreement to establish a Campus at PAF Base Korangi Creek. This Campus was established after acquiring the Charter and was inaugurated on 26th September 2000 by the then CAS ACM P Q Mehndi.
It was a dream come true for the members of the PEF and the Campus was named as KIET. In last sixteen years the institute has exponentially grown by the collective vision of PAF and PEF and has become one of the top institutions in Pakistan.
Pakistan Educational Foundation in the year 2000 took another project by the name of PEF Intermediate College with the vision to provide young and intelligent students to KIET and this year in 2016 PEF has opened another custom made campus in Ahsanabad near Maymar Housing Scheme to provide quality education at intermediate level. PEF right from its inception is steadfast on its basic mission and objectives few of which are here as under:
• To provide affordable and quality education
• To promote free education to needy students subject to merit
• To run the foundation on non —commercial, non-religious and as a not for profit organization
• To co-ordinate and co-operate with organizations with similar objectives and to establish institutions for bringing positive change in the society.
The trustees of Pakistan Educational Foundation are highly committed and KIET is a living example of their extra-ordinary commitment.
