Historical perspective

Karachi Institute of Economics & Technology (KIET) was established in 1997 with the aim of providing quality education economically. Its academic programs are designed to prepare the students to meet the challenges of the business world.

Offering the personal attention of a small college, coupled with the breadth and global relevancy of a leading institution, KIET claims the distinction of being the nation’s premier collegiate university.

Accreditation

KIET received recognition by the Higher Education Commission (formerly named as UGC) vide letter no. 15-22/UGC-SEC 97 1291 dated August 1, 1998. KIET is also accredited by Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) for Engineering programs, Computer Science degree programs are accredited by National Computing Education Accreditation Council (NCEAC) whereas Management Sciences degree programs are accredited by National Business Education Accreditation Council (NBEAC ). KIET was awarded a degree granting status through a charter from the Government of Sindh on May 24, 2000.

Environment

Students of KIET have a number of opportunities to participate in extra co-curricular activities. These include dramatics, debates, seminars, conferences, exhibitions, musical functions and festivals. Such activities are organized by students’ societies under the guidance of patron faculty members and support of the administration. Students are encouraged to participate in tournaments of Cricket, Volleyball, Table Tennis, Soccer, etc.

The Institute promotes the environment of hard work, discipline, leadership and professionalism. There is a focus on providing quality facilities that students and parents desire and expect from an institution.

Our Campuses

Main Campus

The KIET Main Campus, spread over 22 acres, is situated at KIET Creek, Karachi. It is located within 15-20 minutes drive from multiple points (Baloch Colony Overpass and FTC) on Shahrah-e-Faisal and is easily accessible. The educational complex at this campus has custom-built infrastructure that enables professional education in a peaceful environment. Purpose built building structures, open spaces and green lawns, and diversity of students creates a stimulating and lively campus environment.

 

City Campus (Shahrah-e-Faisal Site)

The City Campus of KIET is located at Sharah-e-Faisal near Nursery PECHS, Karachi. The course work and class timings are designed to provide opportunity to working men and women for acquiring higher professional education at a central location in the city. 

The City Campus is fully equipped with modern educational facilities including air-conditioned lecture rooms, computer lab and research center in addition to the facilities of cafeteria and indoor games. The diversity of students at the City Campus provides a stimulating and lively environment.

City Campus (North Nazimabad Site)

KIET launched another campus in 2011 in North Nazimabad. Diversity of work experience of students creates a mature and professional environment with lively class discussions. Currently, there are over 4100 full time and part time students at KIET. All KIET’s Campuses are fully equipped with modern educational facilities including air-conditioned lecture rooms, computer labs, reading rooms, libraries, research centers in addition to the facilities of cafeterias and indoor and outdoor games.
